There are growing concern and questions following the reported arrest of the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, Comrade Olalekan Akindoju.

According to information circulating among journalists in the state, Akindoju was allegedly arrested by policemen at his residence on Thursday morning.

It was further alleged that security operatives forced their way into his apartment before taking him into custody and subsequently transferring him to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Osogbo.

The development was reportedly disclosed by the Chairman of the NUJ, Osun State Council, in a message shared on a journalists’ WhatsApp platform on Thursday morning.

As of the time of filing this report, the Osun State Police Command had not issued an official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding the alleged arrest, while the reasons for his detention remain unclear.
