OSOGBO – Some suspected hoodlums on Monday reportedly invaded a Permanent Voter Card (PVC) distribution centre at Oyinlola DC Primary School, Okuku, in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, making away with an undisclosed number of voter cards.

The incident occurred while officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were distributing PVCs to registered voters as part of preparations for the forthcoming elections.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the distribution centre, disrupted the exercise and carted away some of the PVCs before fleeing the scene. The incident reportedly caused panic among residents and prospective voters who had gathered at the centre to collect their cards.

As of the time of filing this report, INEC had not issued an official statement on the incident, while the exact number of stolen PVCs and the identities of those behind the attack remained unknown. Security agencies are also yet to officially comment on the development. Investigations are expected to commence to recover the stolen cards and bring those responsible to justice.
