President Bola Tinubu has ended his working vacation in Paris, France, and departed for Nigeria, with his aircraft expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday evening.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying Tinubu would proceed to Lagos before returning to Abuja after a series of engagements.

According to Onanuga, Tinubu chose to travel to Lagos ahead of the October 1 Independence Day celebrations to honour the late democracy icon, Chief MKO Abiola, and attend the premiere of a movie celebrating his life and legacy at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu.

The presidential aide also said Tinubu would hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates during his stay in Lagos. He said the meetings would form part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, after which the President would return to Abuja.

Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for his working vacation, spending one week in London before travelling to Paris. While in France, according to the Presidency, he held meetings with business leaders and attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Onanuga also disclosed that Tinubu recently witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a Gateway Deep Seaport in Ogun Waterside and a Blue Marine Economic Zone. The Presidency said DP World plans to invest $7 billion in the project.

The President is expected to participate in Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary activities before returning to Abuja after his Lagos engagements.
