VMO Aero has provided further clarification regarding an aviation occurrence involving one of its aircraft during a scheduled flight from Lagos to Asaba on June 10, 2026, emphasizing that safety protocols were followed and no injuries or property damage were recorded.

In a statement signed by the company’s Accountable Manager, Oluwaseun Ayodeji, VMO Aero explained that the aircraft, a Bombardier Challenger CL-601 business jet registered as N989BC, departed Lagos as planned and approached Asaba Airport at approximately 7:43 a.m. local time.

According to the airline, the flight crew determined during the initial approach that the aircraft’s landing parameters did not meet the required conditions for a safe touchdown. In line with standard aviation safety procedures, the pilots executed a missed approach, a maneuver commonly used when landing conditions are deemed unsuitable.

The crew then repositioned the aircraft in preparation for another approach. However, the aircraft subsequently landed on a roadway in the Ogwashi-Uku area near Asaba.

Despite the unusual landing, the company stressed that the incident did not result in injuries to passengers, crew members, or persons on the ground. It also confirmed that no damage was reported to surrounding property.

Most notably, VMO Aero stated that the aircraft was able to return safely to Lagos following the occurrence, underscoring the effectiveness of the crew’s response and the aircraft’s operational integrity.

The aircraft involved in the incident is reportedly leased in Nigeria from Best Aircraft Deals LLC, a United States-based aviation brokerage and aircraft acquisition company.

Following the event, VMO Aero said it immediately began cooperating with aviation regulators and investigators to establish the full circumstances surrounding the occurrence.

The company disclosed that it is actively engaging with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and other relevant agencies to support a thorough review of the incident and facilitate any corrective actions that may be recommended.

Ayodeji noted that the company recognizes the seriousness with which aviation authorities treat any event capable of affecting flight safety, operational standards, or regulatory compliance.

He expressed regret over any concern or inconvenience the incident may have caused members of the public and stakeholders within the aviation industry.
