Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has released N2.5 billion to pay gratuities for local government pensioners who retired in 2013. Speaking in Akure during the launch of the fourth bulk payment of outstanding gratuities, Aiyedatiwa emphasized his commitment to clearing all owed gratuities for workers in the state.
He outlined a system of regularly setting aside funds for gratuity payments to pensioners at both state and local government levels, which has enabled his administration to make significant progress in clearing the backlog. Aiyedatiwa denied using gratuity payments for political gain, stressing the sincerity of his administration’s efforts.
The governor pledged to continue this plan until all gratuities owed to retirees in Ondo State are fully paid, while also focusing on infrastructure development and welfare programs for the well-being of citizens. He expressed gratitude for the support received during his landslide victory in the November 16th governorship election and promised an era of unprecedented delivery of good governance.

Bayo Phillip, the Head of Service, commended the governor’s efforts to bring relief to pensioners, stating that Aiyedatiwa’s determination to clear all gratuities transcends party or ethnic considerations, and that he will continue to prioritize the welfare of the people of Ondo State.
