Angry Protesters Set Police Station, House On Fire In Ondo

A police division in Ifon, the headquarters of Ose Local Government Area in Ondo State, has reportedly been set ablaze by enraged youths. According to Naija News, the attack on the station followed the alleged death of a young boy in police custody, reportedly due to torture.

Sources who spoke to The Nation revealed that the protesters took action upon learning of the boy’s death, while his friend remained in a coma at a hospital. In their outrage, the demonstrators also torched another building in the area.

In response to the unrest, Ondo State Police Commissioner Wilfred Afolabi has left Akure for Ifon to restore order and prevent further violence.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Nigeria Police Force has neutralized seven terrorists and recovered 23 firearms, along with various rounds of ammunition, during recent nationwide operations.

On February 14, 2025, armed men attacked Gobiraje Village in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, kidnapping a 60-year-old man, Umaru Bawa.

Police operatives tracked the suspects to Tundafari Forest, where a gun battle ensued. Four terrorists were killed, one was arrested with severe injuries, and the victim was rescued unharmed. Additionally, ₦3 million paid as ransom was recovered.
