According to Sports Illustrated reporter Chris Mannix, negotiations have shifted away from the United Kingdom after Netflix, which is reportedly involved in the promotion, expressed a preference for staging the event on a Friday night rather than the traditional Saturday.

Hearn previously maintained that the agreement specifically requires a UK location, although discussions remain ongoing and no final decision has been announced.

The possible move to New York has drawn criticism from British boxing fans, many of whom believe a contest of this magnitude belongs at Wembley Stadium. Mannix described the decision as a “slap in the face” to UK supporters, arguing that financial considerations are driving the negotiations. Joshua’s former training partner, Richard Riakporhe, also revealed that the former world champion has spent the past five years preparing, on and off, for a clash with Fury after earlier attempts to arrange the fight collapsed.
