Former Vice-President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that he possesses evidence showing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is 90 years old, rather than the age publicly associated with him.

Atiku reportedly made the claim while speaking about the ongoing political and legal battles ahead of the 2027 general election. He said the evidence concerning Tinubu’s age would be presented before a court, suggesting that the matter would be established through the judicial process rather than political arguments.

The allegation comes amid renewed scrutiny of the personal records and eligibility of major political figures ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Atiku, who is seeking the presidency on the ADC platform, has continued to position his campaign around accountability, transparency and what he describes as the need for Nigerians to demand answers from those seeking public office.

The claim, however, remains an allegation and has not been established as fact by a court. Tinubu’s publicly stated date of birth is March 29, 1952, which would make him 74 in 2026. Atiku’s assertion that the President is 90 therefore represents a significant departure from the officially stated age and would require credible documentary evidence and judicial determination.

Atiku said he was prepared to produce the alleged evidence in court, making the issue potentially relevant to the legal and political battles surrounding the 2027 presidential contest.
