It has been alleged that members of the Lagos State House of Assembly accepted bribes totaling ₦30 million each in order to support Speaker Mojisola Miranda.
The accusation was made on Tuesday by Niniola Adegoke, Mudashiru Obasa’s Special Assistant on Youth Affairs and Special Duties.
Adegoke further said in an interview with News Central that the lawmakers brought men from the Department of State Services (DSS) to provide them with cover for their activity while Obasa and Clark were not present.
Contrary to claims, he said, the DSS was welcomed by the legislators and did not invade the House. Money impacted the vote of confidence in Miranda, according to Obasa’s aide.
“They passed a vote of confidence on Mojisola Miranda because of their belly,” he said. Is their stomach making decisions for them? Can you comprehend me? I’m giving you this information for free. Additionally, I will pick up the money if you wish to pay me. Give those persons a vote of confidence. They are not sincere. You get it? Anyone who bases their relationship with someone else on money or that seat lacks integrity. They can’t all come out and claim that they didn’t get any money. On January 13th, each of them returned home with 30 million naira.
Allow them to come out and inform the people of Lagos that they were not given any Kobo. On January 13th, they did. Let’s be truthful with ourselves. The State House of Assembly was not overrun by the DSS. It can also be viewed from this perspective. What if the catastrophe was handled by the state? The DSS is of no interest to Mudashiru Obasa. Not to mention that they were the ones who summoned the police and DSS on January 13th to provide them with police cover and to assault democracy on that day in order to carry out their nefarious deeds while the Clerk and Mr. Speaker were not present.
