Popular Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has publicly rejected claims by the founder of Grace Nation Bible Ministry, Pastor Chris Okafor, that she lied in her allegations against him, further escalating a controversy that has continued to attract widespread public attention.

The dispute took a new turn on Sunday after Pastor Okafor issued a public apology during a church service, admitting that mistakes had been made but insisting that some of the claims levelled against him were untrue. While the apology appeared to be an attempt to calm tensions, his reference to “lies” has drawn a sharp response from the actress.

In a demand letter dated December 16, 2025, and conveyed to Pastor Okafor by her lawyers at Synergy Law Partners, Ogala accused the cleric of emotional distress and reputational harm. The legal action marked a significant shift from online accusations to formal proceedings, signalling that the actress was prepared to pursue the matter beyond public opinion.

The controversy gained further momentum this week following additional allegations made by Pastor Okafor’s children, details of which have not been fully disclosed but have intensified scrutiny around the cleric and his personal affairs.

 Dispute Over Apology and Alleged Falsehoods

During his address to members of his congregation on Sunday, Pastor Okafor offered an apology to Ogala and others he claimed to have offended. However, he also suggested that some of the accusations made against him were fabricated.

“To the lady called Doris Ogala, mistakes have been made in the past and I tender apologies to everybody. There are so many lies in most of the things that were said, however, I am saying sorry to everyone I have offended,” Okafor said.

He added, “To Doris Ogala, I am so sorry and I apologize. I am ready to make restitution to anyone that I have offended.”

While the apology was seen by some as a step toward reconciliation, Doris Ogala was quick to challenge the pastor’s assertion that her claims were false. Reacting via a post on her official Facebook page, the actress made it clear that although she was willing to accept the apology, she would not accept being labelled a liar.

“Chris Okafor, I forgive you but there is a problem where you said everything is a lie. I have a problem with that because I don’t lie,” Ogala wrote.

Her response has reignited debate online, with supporters and critics of both parties expressing strong opinions. Some social media users have praised the actress for standing her ground, while others have called for the matter to be resolved privately to avoid further damage to reputations.
