In a significant development for thousands of job seekers across Nigeria, the federal government has postponed the start date for recruitment into key paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior. The recruitment, which was initially scheduled to commence on Wednesday, June 26, 2025, will now officially begin on Monday, July 14, 2025.

The announcement was made late Wednesday through a formal statement by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB). The Board stated that the delay is intended to ensure a smooth and transparent recruitment exercise across all relevant agencies.

According to the CDCFIB, the decision to shift the recruitment date came after careful consideration of technical and logistical factors. The board assured the public that this delay will enhance the efficiency and accessibility of the recruitment portal for all applicants.

“The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), wishes to notify the general public that its recruitment portal which was earlier slated to open on Thursday 26th June, 2025, will now open on Monday 14th July, 2025,” the statement read.

The official portal address for all applications has been confirmed as recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng. Applicants are advised to rely solely on this platform and to avoid unofficial websites or intermediaries promising fast-track opportunities.

CDCFIB also made it abundantly clear that the entire application process is free of charge. “Applicants are kindly requested to take note of the above changes as well as be reminded that all applications are free and do not attract any payment,” the board emphasized.

Recruitment Targets Key Security and Emergency Agencies

The recruitment drive covers four major paramilitary institutions under the Ministry of Interior:

  • Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
  • Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)
  • Federal Fire Service (FFS)
  • Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS)

Each of these agencies plays a pivotal role in maintaining internal security, border control, emergency response, and correctional services in Nigeria. The recruitment drive is anticipated to address staffing gaps and bolster the operational capacity of these services, especially in light of growing security challenges and infrastructure demands.

The CDCFIB has also reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on corruption and favoritism, pledging to deliver a transparent and merit-based recruitment process. The Board apologized to applicants for any inconvenience caused by the date shift and appealed for patience as it works toward a seamless recruitment phase.

Applicants Urged to Be Cautious and Informed

With thousands of Nigerians expected to apply, the Board has issued a strong advisory against falling victim to fraudulent schemes or unofficial middlemen.

“Applicants should beware of fraudsters who might attempt to exploit the delay and pose as agents of the CDCFIB,” a spokesperson warned. “Only the information shared through official government channels should be trusted.”

The CDCFIB has expressed confidence that the newly selected date, July 14, will allow for more robust backend support and user accessibility on the application portal, minimizing the risk of technical glitches or bottlenecks.

It also reassured applicants that despite the short notice, the shift will not disadvantage anyone and that all candidates will have equal opportunity to submit their applications once the portal opens.

Wider Implications for National Employment Strategy

This development comes at a critical time when the country is grappling with high youth unemployment and growing calls for job creation. The federal government’s move to expand recruitment into paramilitary agencies is seen as part of broader efforts to address this economic challenge while also reinforcing national security infrastructure.

Stakeholders have commended the decision to pause and refine the process rather than rushing a flawed implementation, noting that recruitment into sensitive security services must be handled with diligence.

As July 14 approaches, thousands of young Nigerians will be keeping a close eye on updates from the CDCFIB, hopeful that the new date will mark the start of a fair and professionally managed recruitment exercise.
