Senator representing Ogun East at the Senate, Gbenga Daniel, and his supporters were reportedly blocked from joining the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogun East stakeholders meeting at Adeola Odutola Hall, Ijebu Ode, on Monday.

News reports that the former governor of Ogun State made this known in a viral video online.

Gbenga Daniel, while addressing party supporters from his white campaign bus, branded with the OGD/PBAT Movement, stated that the outcome of the meeting will be null and void.

He said, “We are here for our Ogun East APC caucus meeting, but surprisingly, we have been barred; we are told that we can’t enter, but let it be said that whatever they do here today is null and void.”

The invitation letter for the emergency stakeholders meeting sent out by the leadership of the party in Ijebu Ode included deputy governors, past and serving local government chairmen, councillors, past and serving members of both the state and national assemblies, among others, as expected to attend.

Meanwhile, Daniel has described his successor, Ibikunle Amosun, as an “enfant terrible successor.”

Daniel stated this at his 70th birthday church service in Sagamu, where Amosun was also in attendance.

The duo were friends before Daniel became governor in 2003, but fell apart when Amosun contested against Daniel, who was seeking a second term in 2007.

While Amosun lost to Daniel in 2007, the political rivalry peaked in 2011 when Daniel was exiting power.

Speaking during the event, the former governor stated that Amosun was in a hurry to become governor by opposing his second-term bid in 2007.
