Abdullahi Musa had earlier completed his official tenure in the civil service in 2024. However, the Kano State Government allowed him to continue serving beyond that period in order to maintain stability within the civil service.
The government has now decided to formally end his appointment as part of the ongoing restructuring of the state’s administrative system.
Yusuf Appoints Acting Head of Service
Despite the removal, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for Musa’s service to the state and acknowledged his dedication while occupying the position.
The governor commended the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions to the development and management of Kano State’s civil service during his tenure.
Following the change in leadership, Governor Yusuf directed that Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the current Permanent Secretary for Administration and General Services in the Cabinet Office, should assume the role of Acting Head of Service.
Maimota will oversee the affairs of the civil service until the state government appoints a substantive Head of Service.
The statement also instructed the outgoing Head of Service to begin an immediate transition process by handing over all official documents and responsibilities to the acting Head of Service.
According to the government, the handover process is expected to be completed on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, ensuring a smooth transition within the administrative leadership of the civil service.
Observers say the move signals the governor’s intention to introduce new administrative reforms aimed at enhancing governance, improving institutional efficiency, and strengthening the operations of the state’s public service.
The Kano State Government has not yet announced when a permanent replacement for the Head of Service position will be appointed.
