Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has challenged his critics to publicly disprove his administration’s claims on road construction across the FCT, declaring that he would resign if they succeed.
The minister said his administration has awarded contracts for 317 kilometres of roads in satellite towns across the territory, with 221 kilometres already completed, and challenged anyone disputing the figures to present evidence within 48 hours.
Wike issued the challenge on Friday during the commissioning of the reconstructed Arab/Gbazango Road in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council.

Speaking at the event, Wike highlighted several ongoing infrastructure projects, insisting that residents of satellite communities are witnessing unprecedented development under the current administration.
He disclosed that the Apo–Karshi Road and the Bwari–Kubwa Road are both scheduled for completion before the end of the year.
According to the minister, the projects demonstrate the Federal Government’s commitment to extending development beyond Abuja’s city centre to underserved communities.
Wike maintained that no previous administration had invested as heavily in road infrastructure within the satellite towns.
The FCT minister said anyone who believes his claims are false should appear on national television within 48 hours and provide evidence that the projects either were not awarded or have not been executed as stated.
He insisted that if anyone successfully disproves his claims regarding the road projects, he would immediately step down as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
“If there is anybody who has a contrary view, let him come out and challenge us that all these things we are saying are not correct. I will resign as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,” Wike said.
He further stressed that the challenge was open to individuals, associations or groups, adding that he was confident in the administration’s performance and the records of projects executed across the territory.
Wike argued that the impact of the ongoing infrastructure projects is already evident in satellite communities, where improved road networks are enhancing transportation, connectivity and economic activities.
According to him, the Tinubu administration has prioritised the development of neglected areas within the FCT, ensuring that residents outside the city centre also benefit from government projects.
The minister expressed optimism that the completion of ongoing projects before the end of the year would further improve living conditions and support socio-economic development across the Federal Capital Territory.
