Labour Party Rejects Jandor’s Defection, Closes Door on Former PDP Candidate

The Labour Party (LP) has categorically stated that it will not accept Olajide Adeniran (Jandor), the former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following his recent defection from the party.

Jandor, who earlier accused PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) member, Chief Bode George, of working against the party in Lagos, revealed that he was in talks with the Labour Party and other political groups about his next move. However, the Labour Party leadership has swiftly dismissed any possibility of his membership.

Labour Party Rejects Jandor’s Move

Speaking on News Central on Wednesday, Abayomi Arabambi, the National Publicity Secretary of the Lamidi Apapa-led faction of the Labour Party, firmly stated that Jandor would not be welcomed into the party.

Arabambi accused Jandor of being a “political opportunist” who has switched parties multiple times and could bring instability to the Labour Party. He referenced Bode George’s past allegations, which suggested that Jandor was a mole sent to destabilize the PDP.

“Our door is very closed to Jandor. He should not think about the Labour Party because we are aware of his death move from APC to PDP, which Baba Bode George actually accused him of being a mole who came in with a bid to destroy the PDP,” Arabambi stated.

He further emphasized that Jandor should not consider the Labour Party as an option for the 2027 elections.

“For us, we will not take such a person in our party. He should not consider Labour Party as an option of a party he wants to run for in 2027. He can go to another party, but I am saying categorically that the Labour Party option is closed,” he added.

Jandor’s Political Journey Sparks Controversy

Jandor, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) member, defected to the PDP ahead of the 2023 Lagos governorship election. He secured the PDP’s ticket but ultimately lost the election to the APC’s Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

His recent defection from the PDP has sparked debate, with critics questioning his political loyalty and consistency. Some political observers see his rejection by the Labour Party as a sign of growing scrutiny of defectors within Nigerian politics.

What’s Next for Jandor?

With Labour Party shutting its doors, Jandor will now have to explore other political options if he intends to contest in future elections. The development also raises broader concerns about internal party politics and the reception of defectors in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
