At the center of the feud lies the controversial “Big Beautiful Bill,” the cutting of electric vehicle mandates, and bombshell allegations connecting Trump to the Jeffrey Epstein files.

“Such Ingratitude”: Musk’s Sharp Rebuttal Stings Trump

The tension escalated after Musk, who recently exited his role as head of the Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in Trump’s administration, blasted the former president over what he termed “ingratitude.”

Posting on X, Musk declared, “Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate. Such ingratitude.”

This sharp retort came after Trump publicly criticized Musk for allegedly flip-flopping on the “Big Beautiful Bill,” a legislative measure that has sparked outrage among certain sectors of the tech and environmental communities.

 “Big Beautiful Bill” Takes Center Stage

During a briefing in the Oval Office, Trump addressed Musk’s shift in stance, accusing him of hypocrisy. “Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here, better than you people. He knew everything about it. He had no problem with it,” Trump said pointedly.

According to Trump, Musk only raised concerns after learning about impending changes to the electric vehicle (EV) mandate embedded within the bill. “And he only developed the problem when he found out that we’re going to have to cut the EV mandate,” Trump added.

In response, Musk strongly denied any prior knowledge of the bill. He claimed the legislation was stealthily pushed through the legislative process. “This bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it,” Musk posted on X, contradicting Trump’s account.

Epstein Allegations Ignite Firestorm

As if the policy battle wasn’t enough, Musk sent shockwaves across social media by invoking a far more serious accusation. On Thursday afternoon, he alleged that Trump is named in the infamous Jeffrey Epstein files.

In a blunt post, Musk wrote, “@RealDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”

This was soon followed by a cryptic warning: “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.” The statement added fuel to an already burning fire and quickly became a trending topic across platforms.

Trump Retaliates: “Elon Is Going Crazy”

Trump hit back via his social media platform, Truth Social, suggesting that Musk was spiraling after being forced out of the administration and seeing policy reversals on electric vehicles.

“Elon was ‘wearing thin,’ I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!” Trump claimed.

The former president painted Musk as unstable and ungrateful, adding further insult to their rapidly deteriorating relationship.

From Mutual Admiration to Hostile Confrontation

This very public and very personal fallout marks a stark departure from the past when Musk and Trump were aligned on several policy fronts, particularly around deregulation and technological innovation.

But as EV mandates became a political football and legislative controversies like the “Big Beautiful Bill” emerged, their relationship soured—culminating now in bitter accusations and deeply personal attacks.

At press time, neither Trump nor Musk has provided evidence to support the claims being flung back and forth, including the explosive Epstein connection. Meanwhile, the “Big Beautiful Bill” continues to stir controversy as details remain sparse and public scrutiny intensifies.
