Nigeria’s democracy at risk: Obasanjo, Lamido, Saraki urged to intervene
Owoseni Ajayi, the former attorney general and commissioner for justice in Ekiti state, has urged the PDP’s founding fathers to unite and prevent the party from imploding.
Speaking to the Ado Ekiti Leadership, Owoseni bemoaned the fact that some people are determined to destroy the party.
In order to prevent Nigeria from becoming a one-party state, he encouraged those involved who were present when the party was founded and had greatly benefited from its structure to intervene to resolve the PDP’s internal problem.
In order to prevent Nigeria from becoming a one-party state, he stated that individuals such as Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator David Mark, Chief Bode George, Senator CK Awoyelu, Senator Sule Lamido, Senator Bukola Saraki, and other party leaders should unite in order to save the party from its current predicament.
According to his theory, some forces posing as PDP officials in Abuja are purportedly in collusion with the ruling APC and have been operating the party as an APC affiliate.
“The PDP’s crisis is a crisis of the party’s personalities’ egos.” Since the dissidents control the party’s structure, there are no one to oppose them, so disciplining them is not a problem.
“The national legal adviser and the PDP’s press secretary have been working to improve the party’s negative reputation, but some leaders don’t support maintaining harmony inside the party.
“The party will want to hold a congress in Ekiti state in accordance with the party’s constitution, but the former governor will now use his friends to file a lawsuit to prevent the party from holding a congress, and he is with the ruling party, the PDP,” he continued.
