According to Remi Omowaiye, the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is to blame for the crisis that struck the state on Monday.
Political violence between members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was documented in Osun State on Monday.
Omowaiye, Executive Director, Projects Implementation, Federal Housing Authority Nigeria, charged PDP supporters with inciting violence in the state in an interview with Arise News on Tuesday.
He distanced Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, from the Monday problem. He claimed that the former Osun State governor cautioned APC members from using violence.
“It’s very regrettable that Governor Ademola Adeleke wishes to set Osun on fire,” he said. Our people were expected to return to the council after we had a very clear court ruling. I traveled to Ilesa that day to join some of our political buddies because I’m from there. However, I spotted a bunch of PDP thugs at the Ilesa West Secretariat on my way into town. I went immediately to the Ilesa area commander when I arrived in town and informed him of what I had seen, adding that I didn’t want to start a fight. Gboyega Oyetola, my boss and the Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, has instructed us to keep the calm and prevent any crises.
I went to the area commander and informed him of my observations. He said that he will investigate. I returned to our party secretariat in Ilesa West and told all of the party members that, given the current circumstances, they should all go home and that we would return the next day. I also made the decision to go back to Osogbo.
“My car was shot at directly in front of the local government secretariat. A bullet hit one of my security attachés. They also shot at my driver. And, you know, yesterday I almost got killed. And it’s quite regrettable. Not Isoko, but Irewole chairman Remi Abbas was also slain. According to reports, he received a call from the DPO inviting him to return and continue. He was slain by thugs who suddenly surrounded him. Therefore, it’s quite regrettable.
