The Funmilayo Bamidele Oke Memorial Foundation (FBOMF) was officially launched on Tuesday in Gbongan, Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State amid tributes to the late Madam Julianah Funmilayo Ewuola, whose life of generosity and community service inspired the establishment of the foundation.

As part of activities commemorating the launch, 200 packs of food items were distributed to widows, elderly women, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable residents across the constituency.

Speaking during her keynote address, the Founder and Chairperson of the foundation, Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga, said the initiative was put together by her and her siblings to immortalise their mother through sustained humanitarian service.

According to her, the foundation was established to continue the legacy of kindness, generosity and service to humanity for which their late mother was widely known.

“Our mother dedicated her life to helping people and contributing to the wellbeing of society. We decided to sustain those values through this foundation so that her memory will continue to impact lives positively,” she said.

Hon. Oluga noted that the foundation’s emphasis on women-focused programmes was deliberate and intended to underscore the critical role women play in family and societal development.

“Women remain central to the stability and growth of every society. Supporting women means supporting homes, families and communities,” she added.

The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Engr. Benjamin Adereti, performed the unveiling of the commemorative plaque of the foundation and commended Hon. Oluga for what he described as a selfless commitment to the welfare of the underprivileged.

He described the establishment of the foundation as a noble initiative capable of bringing hope and relief to vulnerable members of society.

“This is a commendable effort. Setting up a foundation to care for the less privileged shows compassion, leadership and a genuine concern for humanity,” Adereti stated.

Former Minister of Police Affairs, Hon. Jelili Adesiyan, also paid glowing tributes to the memory of the late Madam Ewuola, describing her as a virtuous woman whose legacy continues to inspire good works decades after her passing.

He called on well-meaning individuals and organisations to support the foundation in order to expand its humanitarian interventions across communities.

One of the Trustees of the foundation, Prof. Tajudeen Adewumi Adebisi, assured that FBOMF would remain committed to improving the lives of indigent residents in rural communities through sustainable support programmes.

Earlier, an interdenominational remembrance service was held in honour of the late Madam Julianah Funmilayo Ewuola.

The service featured prayers and exhortations led by the Area Superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Dr. I.O. Adeniji; a leader of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop A.G. Olanrewaju; and the Bishop of Anglican Diocese, Gbongan, Rt. Rev. Oluwagbemiro Fabuluje.

The ceremony was attended by APC leaders and members, religious leaders, traditional stakeholders and community members from Ayedaade, Isokan and Irewole Federal Constituency.
