Dr. Ben Oramalugo, Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Customs Area Command, said the Command produced over N7.8 billion in revenue and confiscated illicit products with a duty paid value of N202 million in January.
He revealed the information in Ibadan while speaking to reporters on the Command’s January 2025 and 2024 scorecard.
According to him, the feat was achieved despite the prevailing economic condition and the execution of different fiscal policies aimed at stimulating the economy.
Describing the Command’s revenue collecting performance in 2024 as exceptional and respectable, the customs boss listed the seizures to include 170 bags of 50kg foreign rice, 1,667 used tyres, 32 bales of used clothes, two sacks of used shoes and 40 kegs of 25 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

According to him, the Command produced N82.2 billion for the federal government in 2024. The sum collected is 15.3 per cent greater than the N71.2 billion collected in 2023. “The highest income received overall since the Command’s founding in 2024.
Between December 20, 2024 and January 31, Oramalugo further said the Command detected and recovered smuggled commodities having a Duty Paid Value of N202 million.
“We stayed concentrated on safeguarding the interests of nearby businesses and manufacturers as we carried out our anti-smuggling activities. “Our efforts guaranteed that cheaper, inferior, and dangerous products were kept out of our markets, so enabling local producers to flourish and so ensuring the health and safety of citizens,” he stated.
He underlined that the interception and seizures had greatly reduced the smuggling of fake drugs and other illegal products in the Command’s area of coverage, adding that the achievement would not have been achieved without the troops of the Command.
