The victim reportedly identified the suspect as a fellow resident of the community known simply as Dogo after escaping from captivity. His account provided details that helped a joint team of Amotekun operatives, local vigilantes and hunters track down and apprehend the suspect.

The Onibaasi of Baasi, Oba Sunday Babatunde, confirmed the arrest, adding that the suspect had been handed over to the police for further investigation.

The arrest comes amid concerns over recurring abductions in the area. Chairman of Atisbo Local Government, Bashiru Alade, said the security challenges prompted the recent commissioning of a new police post in Baasi.

Alade urged residents to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely and useful information that could help prevent further attacks and aid investigations.

He also cautioned residents against taking the law into their own hands, stressing the need to allow the police and other relevant authorities to handle suspected criminal cases through lawful procedures.
