The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has faulted comments credited to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over issues surrounding Nigeria’s electricity sector, describing them as misleading and politically motivated.

Adelabu, in a statement released on Tuesday, said the governor’s remarks failed to reflect the realities and ongoing reforms in the power sector, adding that such comments could misinform the public and undermine genuine efforts to improve electricity supply nationwide.

The minister stressed that the Federal Government remains committed to strengthening power generation, transmission and distribution, noting that recent policies and investments are already yielding gradual improvements across the country.

He urged political leaders to engage constructively and support national reforms rather than make statements capable of creating unnecessary tension, adding that collaboration between federal and state governments is key to resolving Nigeria’s power challenges.
