Precious Cornerstone University (PCU), Ibadan, has inaugurated a new governing council, ushering in a new phase of leadership for the institution. The event, which took place at the university’s Senate Chamber in Garden of Victory, Ibadan, saw the appointment of renowned academic and former Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Prof. Dapo Asaju, as the Chairman of the newly constituted council.

This marks the second governing council since the university’s inception, with high expectations placed on the newly appointed members to drive the institution towards greater heights.

During his goodwill message at the inauguration, PCU’s Chancellor, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, expressed confidence in the ability of the new council members to guide the university to greater achievements. Vice Chancellor Sees a New Era for PCU

PCU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Adejumo, described the council’s inauguration as a pivotal moment in the university’s history. He acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing council members, particularly their role in securing full accreditation for several academic programs through the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Highlighting the university’s steady progress, Prof. Adejumo reported a significant increase in student enrollment over the past three academic sessions. He noted that 95 students graduated in the 2021/2022 session, 100 in 2022/2023, and 118 in 2023/2024, demonstrating a growing interest in the institution’s academic offerings.

Furthermore, he revealed that the university expanded its programs from 13 to 17, with ongoing processes for NUC verification of six postgraduate courses and seven new undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Arts and Allied Health Sciences.

As the newly inaugurated governing council takes charge, Prof. Adejumo outlined key areas that require attention for the university’s continued growth. He urged the council members to focus on:
