The Ekiti State Police Command has detained a 23-year-old man named Solomon Fabiyi on suspicion of trying to include his nephew, Jomiloju, 7, into a money ritual.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, command spokesperson Sunday Abutu stated that Fabiyi, who resides in Ado-Ekiti with his parents and the victim, was taken into custody on Friday, February 14, 2025, before to his committing the crime. Abutu claimed that the suspect had already been arraigned and had confessed to the crime.
Speaking to reporters, Abutu stated, “He was on the verge of using nephew for money ritual when he was arrested by our operatives on Friday, 14th February 2025 at about 19:00hrs through a tip-off.”

In a social media video that went viral, Fabiyi acknowledged that a local herbalist had told him to find a participant for the ceremony. According to reports, the herbalist told him that the victim will experience a disease but not pass away.
In a surprising turn of events, though, Fabiyi was arrested after the same herbalist called the police after he brought the child for the ceremony.
Fabiyi’s case, according to Newsworld, comes days after Abdulrahman Mohammed Bello, a 29-year-old self-described Islamic preacher, was taken into custody in connection with the horrific killing of Lawal Hafsah Yetunde, a final-year student at Kwara State College of Education.
The police First Information Report (FIR) claims that Abdulrahman and his associates killed and dismembered Yetunde, 24, for ceremonial reasons.
