Suspected political thugs have reportedly attacked members and properties linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in several communities across Osun State, hours after the declaration of the winner of Saturday’s governorship election.
According to a report by Sahara Reporters, the alleged attacks occurred in Ilesa, Iperindo, Atakumosa East, Modakeke and Ikire, among other locations. The report said some APC members accused supporters of the Accord Party of involvement in the incidents. In Ilesa, the political office of APC Governorship Campaign Council Media Head, Oluremi Omowaiye, at Oke Omiru, as well as his private residence in the Ilaje area, were reportedly vandalised. A source cited in the report also claimed that sporadic gunshots were heard during the incident.

The alleged violence reportedly extended to Iperindo, where suspected thugs were said to have invaded the residence of APC stakeholder Omoniyi Dotun, popularly known as Adamo, and destroyed his Toyota Venza. The incident allegedly forced some residents to flee their homes for safety. Similar reports emerged from Atakumosa East and neighbouring communities, while another source alleged that a local figure identified as Adam Saka was assaulted in Omi Odo.
The allegations have heightened concerns over the security situation in the state following the governorship election. APC sources reportedly questioned why opposition members would allegedly be targeted after the poll and called on security agencies to investigate the reported attacks, identify those responsible and restore calm in the affected communities. They also appealed to the Osun State Government and political leaders, including the Accord Party leadership, to prevent political differences from escalating into further violence. The allegations of responsibility have not been independently established, and the report as provided does not include a response from the Accord Party or an official police account of the incidents.
