The Senate of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has approved the appointment of two of the university’s lecturers as deputy vice-chancellors (DVCs).

The duo are Taibat Odunola-Bakare, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences; and Mukhtar Etudaiye, Faculty of Law. This is stated in a statement made accessible to journalists on Friday in Ilorin by the university’s director of corporate relations, Kunle Akogun. Mr Akogun, who confirmed the appointment, stated that the DVCs succeeded Olubunmi Omotesho and Sulaiman Ambali, whose term expired on Dec.20. According to the director, the DVCs will formally begin office after the university’s governing council, led by Surv. Abiodun Aluko, adopts the decision of the senate.

“The Center for Management and Leadership (CML) is currently directed by Odunola-Bakare, a distinguished professor of pharmaceutical chemistry.”In addition, she was the most recent dean of the University of Ilorin’s Postgraduate School. With council approval, she will take over as DVC (Academics).Subject to council approval, Etudaiye, a law professor and the current chairman of the University Admissions Committee, will take over as the DVC (Research, Technology, and Innovation). “Prof. Adegboyega Fawole, who is currently the DVC (Research, Technology, and Innovation), will now be the DVC (Management Services),” he stated.

The director said that the vice-chancellor, Wahab Egbewole, commended the outgoing DVCs for their dedication and loyalty to the system.
