Osun State University UNIOSUN, has denied reports that it has increased its school fees, saying a fee schedule circulating online is a breakdown of various charges payable by newly admitted students and should not be interpreted as an announcement of a fee hike.

The clarification followed complaints by students over figures contained in the circulating schedule, which listed fees of ₦1,335,000 for Medicine, ₦930,000 for Law and ₦940,500 for Nursing.
The figures had sparked concerns among students over the cost of education at the institution, particularly as the schedule indicated that campus-based accommodation, reportedly ranging from ₦180,000 to ₦500,000, was not included in the listed amounts.
However, in a response to an inquiry by Newsworld, the university’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Ademola Adesoji said the institution had not increased school fees.
“Osun State University has not increased its school fees. The fee schedule currently circulating online is a breakdown of the various charges payable by newly admitted students, including acceptance fees, medical fees and other applicable charges,” the PRO stated.

The spokesperson explained that the figures should not be misconstrued as an announcement of an increase in school fees, adding that the breakdown was intended to provide newly admitted students with details of the various charges applicable to them.
The PRO also raised concerns about the authenticity of the circulating document, noting that although it carried a watermark, the watermark did not bear the university’s name or logo.
“It’s watermarked already. And you can see that the watermark is not carrying the logo of the university or the university name,” the spokesperson added.
The university’s clarification suggests that the figures being circulated represent a compilation of different charges applicable to newly admitted students rather than evidence of a newly approved increase in tuition fees.
The development highlights the importance of verifying official fee schedules before drawing conclusions about changes in university charges.
UNIOSUN’s management has urged that the circulating breakdown should not be treated as an official announcement of a school fee increase.
