Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, on Wednesday met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to discuss national security, economic reforms, infrastructure development and other issues of national importance.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Uzodimma said the discussions focused on the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to improve security, strengthen the economy and accelerate development across the country.

The governor commended President Tinubu for the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the operation as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of Nigerians.

According to him, the rescue reflects the government’s determination to confront insecurity and protect citizens through coordinated security operations.

Uzodimma also praised the President for the recent increase in Nigeria’s crude oil production, noting that the development would enhance government revenue and provide additional resources for economic growth and national development.

He expressed optimism that the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms would continue to strengthen the country’s fiscal position and improve living standards.

The governor reiterated his support for the establishment of state police, arguing that decentralising policing would improve intelligence gathering and enable state governments to respond more effectively to security challenges within their jurisdictions.

According to him, state police would complement existing federal security agencies and enhance efforts to combat crime and insecurity across the country.

Uzodimma also briefed President Tinubu on key infrastructure and development projects being executed by his administration in Imo State.

He said the projects were improving road connectivity, enhancing economic activities and creating greater opportunities for businesses and investors in the state.

The governor added that the initiatives align with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda by promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Uzodimma also invited President Tinubu to visit Imo State to commission completed projects undertaken by his administration.

He expressed confidence that the President’s visit would further strengthen collaboration between the Federal Government and the Imo State Government in advancing development programmes and delivering greater benefits to the people.
