‘Victor Boniface Not Leaving Bayer Leverkusen For Newcastle United’
There has been no communication between Premier League club, Newcastle United and Bundesliga champions. Bayer Leverkusen about the signature of Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Victor Boniface.
Contrary to prior rumors, German media outlet BILD reported that Bayer Leverkusen are not under any pressure to break company with Victor Boniface.
Recent theories stated that Newcastle had an opportunity to acquire the 24-year-old striker during the summer transfer window, with Boniface apparently being pitched as a potential acquisition for the Magpies.
Despite this, experts claim that Boniface is satisfied at Bayer Leverkusen. Following a dramatic near-transfer to Al-Nassr, which fell through at the last moment, the striker reaffirmed his dedication to his current club by scoring in consecutive Bundesliga matches against 1. FC Köln and TSG Hoffenheim.
Bayer Leverkusen’s head coach, Xabi Alonso, revealed that the Nigerian star has remained unfazed by his failed transfer to the Saudi Pro League, noting, “These things happen.”
He added noted, “We had discussions before this transfer window commenced. Victor was absolutely open to exploring transfer opportunities, but he’s found contentment here. I don’t believe this scenario will weigh heavy on him. He’ll adapt his thinking and embrace the thought of continuing with us, viewing his position positively and aiming to establish his status on the team.”
Boniface, who made the transition to Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023 for a sum of €20 million, has extended his contract until 2029, establishing his reputation as one of the club’s top earners.
He has had a great debut season with Leverkusen, netting 21 goals and providing 10 assists across 34 games, adding considerably to the club’s unprecedented success of clinching both the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal.
Despite enduring some injury issues this season, Boniface has still managed to strike the back of the goal seven times in just 13 league outings.
