Idris Mariam, 29, has been placed on remand by an Ogun State Magistrate Court in Ago-Iwoye for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old child (name withheld) in the Muslim High School Area of Ago-Iwoye.

Since December 23, 2024, Mariam has engaged in eight illegal sexual encounters with the survivor in her chamber.

Dyke Ogbonnaya, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ogun State command, signed the statement and provided it to DAILY POST on Tuesday.

Ogbonnaya revealed that the survivor’s mother had informed the command about the occurrence.

According to him, the defendant was placed under 60 days of custody at the Nigeria Correctional Center in Ijebu-Ode after being charged under Section 32 of the Child Rights Law of Ogun State, Nigeria 2006.

During the course of the investigation, the survivor disclosed that the defendant had sexually assaulted him eight times in a row since December 23, 2024, according to Ogbonnaya.

“The State Command legal team filed a motion for ex parte to remand the defendant at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ijebu-Ode, for 60 days at the Ago-Iwoye Magisterial Court following the conclusion of the investigation.”

According to the command spokeswoman, the court, presided over by His Worship O.F. Adeduntan (Mrs.), granted the Corps’ request to remand the prisoner.

The statement further stated that the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP), Ogun State Ministry of Justice, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, has been consulted for legal advice on a duplicate case file.

Remilekun Ekundayo, the Corps State Commandant, has warned against indecent behavior and other sorts of cruel treatment, emphasizing that the state will not allow such behavior.
