The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its online recruitment portal for Nigerians seeking to serve as ad hoc staff during the 2027 general elections.

The recruitment exercise is being conducted through the INEC Portal for Recruitment of Election Staff, popularly known as INECPRES, as the commission begins preparations for the nationwide elections.

According to a public notice issued by INEC, the portal opened at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, and will remain available for applications until midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.

The commission said the recruitment covers several categories of temporary election personnel who will be deployed to support the conduct and administration of the 2027 polls.

Among the positions listed by INEC are Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers and Registration Area Technical Support personnel.

INEC Opens Recruitment to Several Categories of Applicants

INEC said eligible applicants include federal public and civil servants, serving and former members of the National Youth Service Corps, tertiary institution students and relevant personnel from Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The commission also listed heads of schools hosting Registration Area Centres, INEC ICT personnel and qualified Information Technology students among those who can apply for the available positions.

Applicants, however, are expected to satisfy the requirements attached to their preferred positions before completing the registration process.

The recruitment process is part of the logistical preparations required for the deployment of election personnel across polling and registration areas during the 2027 general elections.

INEC has advised prospective applicants to use the designated recruitment portal and provide accurate information throughout the registration process.

For the application, candidates are expected to have a functional email address and telephone number, as well as a personal bank account.

Applicants are also required to provide a recent passport photograph, while those for whom it is applicable must submit valid staff or student identification.

Serving NYSC members who are eligible to apply are expected to provide relevant call-up information. Qualification documents and a valid means of identification are also required as part of the registration process.

How to Apply for INEC Ad Hoc Staff Recruitment

Prospective applicants can access the INECPRES portal directly or enter the recruitment platform through the official INEC website.

After accessing the portal, applicants are expected to carefully read the available instructions and eligibility requirements before selecting a position.

Candidates should then complete the required registration details, providing accurate personal, educational and employment information.

Supporting information and documents required for the selected position must also be supplied before submission.

INEC has advised applicants to review all information entered into the system before submitting their applications to reduce the possibility of errors.

After completing the submission, applicants should retain their registration or application details for future reference.

The recruitment window will remain open for two months, giving eligible Nigerians time to complete the process before the November 18 deadline.

The exercise comes as INEC continues preparations for the 2027 general elections, for which a large number of election officials will be required to support voting and other election-day activities across the country.

Prospective applicants are therefore expected to complete their registration within the specified period and comply with the commission’s requirements for their chosen positions.
