Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has denied being part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council in Lagos State, despite her name appearing on a list of members released ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The actress reacted after the Lagos State chapter of the APC released its campaign council structure, which included several prominent figures from Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba, alongside actors Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola and Toyin Abraham, were listed under the party’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.

The list was released by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre on Thursday as the party prepared for the inauguration of its campaign council.

The campaign council is scheduled to be inaugurated on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road in Ikeja.

According to the published structure, Toke Benson-Awoyinka is listed as Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, while Kosoko is named Co-Director and Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director.

Toyin Abraham Says She Is Not Involved in Politics

Reacting to the circulation of the campaign council list on social media, Abraham took to her Instagram Story to distance herself from the reported appointment.

The actress said she had already made her position on political involvement known and maintained that she was not a member of any campaign council.

She urged members of the public and her followers to disregard the inclusion of her name in the reported campaign structure.

“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently, I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” Abraham stated.

Her comments came shortly after the APC campaign council list generated attention online, particularly because of the number of well-known entertainers included in the structure.

The inclusion of entertainers in political campaign structures is not unusual in Nigeria, where popular actors, musicians and other public figures have sometimes participated in political campaigns or supported candidates.

However, Abraham’s response makes clear that, based on her statement, she does not consider herself a member of the Lagos APC campaign council despite her name appearing on the published list.

The development also highlights the distinction between being named in a political structure and personally accepting or confirming such a role.

While the Lagos APC list identifies Abraham as part of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, the actress has publicly rejected the reported inclusion and said she intends to remain outside politics.

The campaign council is expected to commence its activities following its scheduled inauguration on Friday as political parties prepare for the 2027 elections.

For Abraham, however, her latest statement indicates that she does not intend to participate as a member of the reported campaign committee.

Her clarification is also likely to draw further attention to the composition of the entertainment directorate, particularly as political parties continue to engage personalities from the creative industry ahead of the next general elections.
