Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Iyiola Omisore, and the party’s current National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, have backed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s role as coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in Osun State.

The development followed the inauguration of the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council in Osogbo, where Adeleke pledged to mobilise massive support for Tinubu’s second-term bid, setting a target of more than 1.5 million votes for the President in the state.

Adeleke assured members of the coalition that the alliance was strictly for the presidential election and would not affect their respective parties’ chances in the National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections.

He said the inauguration demonstrated that political actors could work together across party lines, including the APC, Accord and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to support Tinubu’s re-election in January 2027.

Omisore, in a statement on the inauguration, acknowledged Adeleke as the state coordinator and said political leaders had made a collective commitment to deliver Osun overwhelmingly for Tinubu.

Basiru also urged APC members and other political stakeholders in the state to set aside personal ambitions and differences and support Adeleke in carrying out the assignment given to him by the President.

“There is no ambition or ego that is greater than ensuring President Bola Tinubu is re-elected,” Basiru said, adding that party members must respect Tinubu’s decision to appoint Adeleke as campaign coordinator.

The APC national secretary further argued that Tinubu’s economic reforms had increased the resources available to state governments, making it important for political stakeholders to support the President’s bid for a second term.

He appealed to political actors in Osun to close ranks behind Adeleke and work towards securing a decisive victory for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
