His resignation comes amid political realignments ahead of the forthcoming elections, with sources familiar with the development saying he is expected to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Muhammadu Resigns From All ADC Positions

In the letter, the former ADC national officer announced that he was stepping down from all positions he held within the party with immediate effect.

He said the decision followed careful consideration and expressed appreciation to the ADC and its leadership for giving him the opportunity to serve at both the national and zonal levels.

Muhammadu also formally transmitted copies of his resignation to the party’s national leadership.

According to the report, a copy was sent to ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, through the North-East Zonal Chairman, Daniel Modu Bwala.

Copies were also forwarded to the Gombe State leadership of the party, the party leader in the state and other relevant officials within the North-East zonal structure.

Former Gombe Commissioner

Muhammadu is not new to political and public service in Gombe State.

He previously served as the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development in Gombe State.

His decision to leave the ADC therefore represents the departure of a politician who has held both government and party leadership positions.

Muhammadu Reportedly Heading To APC

Sources familiar with the development reportedly said Muhammadu will join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He is also expected to work with the APC governorship candidate, Dr Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, ahead of the election.

However, the available report attributes the planned move to sources familiar with the development and does not include a direct confirmation from Muhammadu regarding his reported move to the APC.

His reported defection could add another layer to the political calculations in Gombe State as parties position themselves for the forthcoming electoral contests.

ADC Faces Another Political Realignment

The resignation further highlights the fluid nature of Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly as politicians continue to reassess their affiliations and alignments ahead of major elections.

For the ADC, the departure of a national officer and former North-East zonal secretary represents a notable development, particularly given the party’s efforts to strengthen its structures across the country.

The APC, meanwhile, could benefit from the reported arrival of a former senior ADC official with previous experience in Gombe State government.

Further developments are expected regarding Muhammadu’s reported movement to the APC and his role in the party’s campaign activities.
