AMBy Ogunsile Richard Please tell this story: Due to unanticipated maintenance needs, Air Peace has formally declared that flights to and from Warri, Ibadan, Akure, Ilorin, Calabar, and Uyo would no longer operate.
According to a statement sent by Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications for Air Peace, on Wednesday, these cancellations will impact flight operations on Wednesday and Thursday, January 15 and 16, 2025, according to Newsworld.
To minimize any difficulty, the airline made sure that all impacted customers were informed as soon as possible via a variety of contact channels. Air Peace reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and offered its heartfelt apologies for the interruptions. It is advised that travelers consult flight schedules or contact customer service if they need more assistance.
“Dear Respected Client, Due to unforeseen maintenance, we would like to notify you that flights to and from Warri and Ibadan have been canceled. For the same reason, flights to Akure, Ilorin, Calabar, and Uyo have also been canceled.
“These cancellations will affect operations today and tomorrow,” the statement noted.
According to Newsword, on December 27, 2024, Chris Najomo, the Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), called for a conference with the CEOs of all Nigerian domestic airlines. This is because there are frequent airline cancellations and delays throughout the holiday season.
On Thursday, Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, revealed this on his X account. Achimugu described an incident that happened to him when he was attempting to board his flight.
“I walked into the scene this evening while trying to catch a flight myself. Passengers were really angry and threatened to become violent. “I personally addressed them and engaged for about 20 minutes, explaining that I would confirm from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMET, if the weather was truly bad. I also explained that the airline does not have liability in the event of force majeure,” he said. According to him, despite this, he took certain measures to address the concerns of passengers.
