Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declined to comment on fresh allegations by US-based activist Sandra Duru, popularly known as Prof Mgbeke, who accused him of engaging her to make false allegations against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The latest development has reignited the controversy involving Akpabio and the senator representing Kogi Central, following the circulation of a nine-minute audio recording released by Duru. The activist presented the recording as a preview of further disclosures about her alleged relationship with the Senate President and the dispute involving Natasha.

Naija News reports that the latest allegation comes more than a year after Duru was drawn into the dispute between the two lawmakers. In May 2025, Duru had alleged that Natasha offered her ₦200 million to make false allegations against Akpabio. Natasha denied the claim and described it as untrue, while calling for an investigation into what her lawyers characterised as a coordinated campaign against her.

In the latest recording, Duru reportedly contradicted her earlier claim that Natasha had attempted to recruit her to make allegations against Akpabio. She also released excerpts featuring a male voice, which she identified as Akpabio’s, allegedly discussing political developments involving former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Senator Ned Nwoko. In one excerpt, the voice purportedly attributed Okowa’s defection to the APC to concerns over corruption cases. The authenticity of the recording and the allegations have not been independently established.

According to Punch, Akpabio’s media aide, Eseme Eyiboh, did not respond to calls and messages seeking clarification on the allegations. Natasha’s camp also declined to comment, with her media aide, Mike Idoko, stating, “We have no comment on this issue, please.” Akpabio has not publicly addressed the latest claims in the account provided.
