The All Progressives Congress (APC) hosting the caucus meeting in the presidential villa’s banquet hall is an abuse of power that every Nigerian should denounce, according to Peter Ameh, national secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).
According to news, Ameh stated in a statement on Thursday that using the Presidential Villa for party purposes is a hazardous precedent and a blatant breach of democratic ideals.

He claims that the ruling party is effectively using state resources for their political advantage by holding APC events at the mansion while barring other officially recognized political parties from using the same spaces.

According to the statement, “The Presidential Villa, the President of Nigeria’s official home and office, is a symbol of national unity and the seat of power.” It is where the President welcomes visiting guests and where significant national decisions are made.

But recent occurrences have sparked worries about the Presidential Villa being abused for political ends. at particular, it should be widely denounced as an abuse of authority because the APC National Caucus meeting was held at the Presidential Villa’s Banquet Hall.

“All Nigerians, irrespective of their political allegiance, own the mansion. The ruling party is effectively exploiting state resources for their political advantage by holding APC events at the mansion while barring other officially recognized political parties from using the same spaces. The democratic process is weakened and an unfair playing field is produced.

For Nigerians who are already having a hard time making ends meet, the Presidential Villa being used for partisan purposes is a slap in the face. It is intolerable that the ruling party is more focused on securing its hold on power than on meeting the urgent needs of the populace during a period when the nation is dealing with a number of issues, such as poverty, insecurity, and corruption.

“Anything less would be a betrayal of the Nigerian people’s trust in them.”
