The commission said the local phase of the promotion examination will hold from Monday, September 21, to Wednesday, September 23, 2026, across designated centres in the country.

The schedule was contained in a circular dated September 8, 2026, with reference number FC.6243/GOV/2026/VOL.III/22.
The Head of Press and Public Relations of the FCSC, Ibraheem Zakariyya, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Abuja.
According to the commission, the promotion exercise is being conducted in two phases, covering candidates participating in the local and foreign legs of the examination.
The local examination will cover all applicable grade levels and will be conducted at selected centres across the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory.
The designated centres are:
- North-Central: Lafia, Nasarawa State
- North-West: Kaduna, Kaduna State
- North-East: Bauchi, Bauchi State
- South-South: Port Harcourt, Rivers State
- South-West: Ibadan, Oyo State
- South-East: Enugu, Enugu State
- Federal Capital Territory: Abuja, including the commission’s headquarters
The FCSC urged all accredited candidates to carefully verify the information contained on their examination identity cards before appearing for the exercise.
Candidates are expected to report at their assigned examination centres by 7:00 a.m. on the date indicated on their examination cards.
The commission also warned candidates against attempting to write the examination at centres other than those assigned to them.
It stressed that candidates would only be permitted to take the examination at the venue indicated on their respective identity cards.
The FCSC advised eligible civil servants to make adequate preparations and confirm their examination details ahead of the scheduled dates.
Candidates were further encouraged to arrive early at their designated centres to avoid delays or other circumstances that could affect their participation in the promotion exercise.
The Directorate-Level Promotion Examination forms part of the Federal Civil Service Commission’s promotion process for eligible officers seeking advancement within the federal civil service.
