Ensuring that Nigeria’s healthcare facilities run smoothly is one of the priorities of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration. Consequently, the federal government has installed solar power systems in 371 primary healthcare centres (PHCs) in 17 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to ensure stable and sustainable electricity in the facilities.
This strategic federal government intervention, in collaboration with various stakeholders, is aimed at empowering the healthcare centres to strengthen immunisation systems, improve healthcare access for millions of Nigerians, guarantee the availability of potent vaccines through stable cold-chain storage and enable health workers to provide 24-hour maternal and emergency services.
