Gunmen Kill Businessman In Ondo

A well-known building materials vendor was murdered over the weekend by unidentified assailants in Ore, the Odigbo Local Council Area headquarters in Ondo State.

Shortly after observing the Tarawih prayer on the first day of Ramadan, the deceased, identified as Ismaila Awoyinka, was shot at close range at the door of his home by some unidentified individuals.

Sources claim that the assault happened over the weekend at his home across from Caring Heart Mega School on Ore’s Idi-mango axis.

Before hitting the businessman, the attackers, who arrived on a motorcycle, had concealed themselves in a nearby bush, according to one of the sources, who identified himself as Kamoru.

At approximately 8:35 p.m. on that fatal day, he said: “He (Awoyinka) was assassinated the moment he left the mosque after Tarawih prayer (a voluntary prayer during Ramadan), very close to his house.”

Some people in white clothing got off a motorcycle and hid close by after he exited the mosque.

They ambushed and shot the deceased just as he was ready to enter his home. His intestines were revealed after he was shot at close range. He passed away right away.

In the meanwhile, the murder had shocked the community, and when word spread that he had died suddenly, supporters flocked to his home.

Taiwo Adegoroye, the chairman of the Odigbo Local Council, expressed outrage over the assassination. Other local officials denounced the murder and asked people to be especially watchful at night.
