Former Edo State Governor and Senator Adams Oshiomhole has said Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma should not be regarded as the only political leader responsible for promoting President Bola Tinubu and his administration in the South-East.

Oshiomhole made the clarification during an interview on TVC on Sunday, August 23, 2026, while discussing political developments and efforts to strengthen the relationship between the Federal Government and the South-East.

The senator said Uzodimma’s appointment as Secretary of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election should not be interpreted as giving him the sole responsibility of explaining Tinubu’s policies, programmes and achievements to the Igbo people.

According to Oshiomhole, all political leaders and governors in the South-East have a responsibility to communicate with their constituents and help them understand the policies and direction of the Tinubu administration.

He said, “Please note, the fact that Hope Uzodimma is the secretary doesn’t mean he will be the one marketing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Igbo nation. I believe that every other governor in the South-East also has a role to play.”

Oshiomhole’s comments come as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the party seeking to expand its support across the South-East and other parts of the country.

The former Edo governor’s position suggests that the party’s campaign strategy in the region is expected to involve multiple political leaders rather than relying solely on Uzodimma.
