Police operatives on Tuesday fired tear gas to disperse Nigerians who gathered at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos State to commemorate victims of the October 2020 #EndSARS protests. The memorial, organised by the Enough is Enough movement, attracted political figures, journalists and other residents, including African Democratic Congress (ADC) Lagos governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate Funso Doherty.

The gathering was reportedly disrupted before participants could lay wreaths in honour of those who lost their lives during the protests. A video shared online by TheCable showed participants scrambling for safety as tear gas spread across the area.
The incident occurred on the sixth anniversary of the protests, which began as demonstrations against police brutality and the activities of the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Meanwhile, African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has renewed calls for the identification, arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the Lekki Tollgate shootings. In a post on X, Sowore questioned why victims and their families were still waiting for justice six years after the incident.
He also called for investigations into the alleged roles of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, military and police commanders, and others he accused of having links to the incident. Sowore further demanded an investigation into claims that CCTV cameras at the tollgate were removed before the shootings.
