The Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Isuku Victor as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.

The appointment forms part of a broader administrative restructuring within the police hierarchy aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness and improving service delivery.

Under the latest redeployment, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Okon Placid has been transferred from the Force Public Relations Department to the Force Criminal Investigation Department.

Placid had served as Force spokesperson for approximately three months after his appointment shortly following Disu’s assumption of office as Inspector General.

Before his elevation to the position of Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Isuku Victor served as the Officer-in-Charge of the Complaints Response Unit (CRU), where he was responsible for handling public complaints and improving police-citizen relations.

The changes were communicated through an official police wireless message signed by the Force Secretary and distributed to commands, departments, and formations across the country.

According to sources familiar with the development, the redeployments are part of routine personnel adjustments designed to align the Force’s leadership structure with evolving operational priorities.

The official communication reportedly emphasized that the reshuffle is intended to enhance efficiency within both the police media apparatus and investigative departments.

Speaking on the development, DCP Anthony Okon Placid confirmed that he had been replaced as Force spokesperson. However, police authorities have not provided detailed reasons for the change beyond describing it as an administrative decision.

The appointment of a new Force Public Relations Officer is significant because the office serves as the primary communication channel between the police and the public, providing updates on security matters, policy decisions, and operational activities.

Observers note that the redeployment comes amid ongoing efforts by the new police leadership to reorganize key departments and strengthen public engagement while improving investigative capacity across the Force.

With CSP Isuku Victor now assuming responsibility for police communications, attention will be on how the Force continues to engage the public and address emerging security concerns nationwide under the leadership of IGP Disu.
