Three Arrested as Investigation into Adedamola Ogunbode’s Death Intensifies
The Lagos State Police Command has sealed a church over the alleged murder of 28-year-old Adedamola Ogunbode, a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU). The action was taken to prevent possible arson as tensions rise over the tragic incident.
Confirming the development, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the church was secured following intelligence reports that some individuals were planning to burn it down in retaliation.
“The church was sealed following intelligence reports that some people planned to burn it down out of vengeance, and we do not want that to happen,” Hundeyin told journalists on Monday at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja.
He further explained that the church remains a suspected crime scene, which officers may need to revisit multiple times to gather crucial evidence.

The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has taken over the case, with three individuals, including the pastor, already in police custody. Authorities have intensified efforts to apprehend five additional suspects, two of whom are currently outside Nigeria in Benin Republic.
Hundeyin previously disclosed in a Friday statement that the case had transitioned from a missing person report to a suspected murder investigation.
“Investigation has been intensified to locate the body of the deceased and uncover the circumstances surrounding his death,” Hundeyin said.
Financial Transactions Raise Suspicions
Authorities revealed that money was transferred from Ogunbode’s account to the bank accounts of five suspects, three of whom have already been arrested.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has assured the public of a thorough investigation and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“CP Jimoh has assured the public that the command is fully committed to resolving the matter and bringing the perpetrators to justice. He calls for restraint from actions that could potentially hinder or interfere with the ongoing investigative efforts,” Hundeyin added.
Community Demands Justice
The alleged murder of Adedamola Ogunbode has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for swift action from the authorities. Community members and activists have urged the police to ensure a transparent investigation and deliver justice for the slain LASU graduate.
As investigations continue, the public eagerly awaits further updates from law enforcement on the whereabouts of Ogunbode’s body and the circumstances leading to his tragic death.
