Natasha Osawaru Idibia, the wife of Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has declared her ambition to become President of Nigeria.

Natasha, who is a serving member of the Edo State House of Assembly, made the declaration while celebrating the 92nd birthday of her grandfather, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, in Benin City, Edo State.

During the celebration, the lawmaker spoke warmly about her grandfather, describing him as a person she loves and greatly admires.

She said one of her major ambitions was to achieve significant success in her political career and make her grandfather proud of her accomplishments.

Natasha expressed the hope that she would attain the highest political office in Nigeria while her grandfather is still alive.

According to her, becoming President is an ambition she is actively working towards, and she promised to make her grandfather proud if she eventually achieves the goal.

She made the declaration during an emotional tribute to the elder statesman as family members and well-wishers gathered to celebrate his 92nd birthday.

Natasha told her grandfather that she intended to become President of Nigeria and asked him to look forward to witnessing what she described as one of the major achievements of her political journey.

“But I promise you that I’ll be the president of this country before you know it. And I’ll make you very, very proud,” she said.

She also expressed her deep affection for her grandfather, praying for his continued protection and good health.

Natasha’s declaration introduces a presidential ambition into her growing political career, although she did not specify when she intends to contest or under which political platform she would seek the presidency.

The Edo lawmaker currently represents the Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, where she serves as Minority Leader.

She assumed the position of Minority Leader in August 2026 following a reshuffling of principal positions within the Edo State legislature.

Her political affiliation has also changed in recent months.

Natasha left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in May 2026 and joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), subsequently emerging as a prominent figure within the state legislature.

Her latest declaration is therefore likely to attract attention as political activities gradually intensify ahead of future electoral contests in Nigeria.

The presidency remains the country’s highest elective political office, and aspiring candidates typically need to build substantial political structures and support across different parts of the country.

For Natasha, the declaration represents a significant expansion of the political ambitions associated with her public career.

Her comments also place her personal political aspirations alongside her current responsibilities as a state legislator and minority leader.

While she did not provide details about her proposed political agenda or specific policies she would pursue as president, her statement clearly indicated that she sees the presidency as a long-term objective.

The declaration was made in the context of her grandfather’s birthday celebration, making it both a personal tribute and a public statement about her future political aspirations.

Natasha said she wanted her grandfather to witness and be proud of her achievements, particularly as she continues to develop her political career.

Her emergence as a lawmaker and subsequent rise to the position of Minority Leader have already marked important stages in her political journey.

Whether the presidential ambition will translate into a future presidential candidacy remains to be seen, but the declaration has added a new dimension to her growing profile in Nigerian politics.
