Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted multiple consignments of illicit drugs in different parts of Nigeria, recovering more than 2.3 tonnes of assorted narcotics and arresting several suspects in a series of operations.

The operations, according to the agency, targeted drug trafficking networks operating through airports, motor parks, roads, residential areas and cannabis cultivation sites across the country.

NDLEA Intercepts Colorado Shipments From UK

In Lagos, NDLEA operatives intercepted two consignments of Colorado, also known as Colos, allegedly arriving from the United Kingdom through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja.

The agency said the consignments were concealed in consolidated cargoes.

One of the shipments contained 27 parcels of Colorado weighing 32.20kg.

A 44-year-old real estate agent, Abideen Jide Salami, was arrested on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, after he allegedly arrived to collect luggage containing the drugs.

According to the NDLEA account, Salami was allegedly using a code sent to him by his brother based in the United Kingdom.

In another operation involving a separate UK shipment, operatives arrested Nurudeen Abiodun Kadiri, 44, after recovering 12.25kg of Colorado from a consignment allegedly sent to him by his brother in the UK.

Colorado Hidden Inside Music Speakers

The anti-drug agency also intercepted Colorado allegedly concealed inside music speakers at two motor parks in Lagos.

At the Maza Maza motor park, officers from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) reportedly discovered three packs of Colorado hidden inside a music speaker.

The consignment was allegedly being transported to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, before being moved onward to Liberia.

During an operation at a nearby eatery, NDLEA officers arrested Ifeanyi Obed Augustine, 41, a tour agent, and Obasi Ugochuckwu, 46, who was identified as the alleged owner of the consignment.

At the Iddo motor park, operatives arrested Ifeanyi Nwokolo Henry on Friday, September 11, while he was allegedly attempting to send 2.1kg of Colorado to Kano.

Major Drug Seizures in Delta

In Delta State, NDLEA operations in Ughelli and Asaba led to the seizure of several controlled substances.

The recovered drugs reportedly included pentazocine injections, codeine syrup, tramadol, diazepam, flunitrazepam (Hypnox) and MDMA, also known as Molly.

Some of the substances were allegedly concealed inside music speakers.

Two suspects, Emeka Oji and Chukwuebuka Anedi, were arrested in connection with the operations.

NDLEA Recovers 785,000 Pregabalin Capsules in Kano

Kano State also recorded a major seizure after NDLEA operatives raided an area in Sabon Gari.

The operation led to the arrest of 20-year-old Saidu Adamu and the recovery of 785,000 capsules of pregabalin weighing 669.425kg.

In a separate operation along the Zaria-Kano-Hadejia Road, officers seized 1,700 diazepam tablets allegedly hidden inside loaves of bread.

A 28-year-old suspect, Habibu Sabitu, was arrested in connection with the consignment.

157,100 Tramadol Capsules Seized in Plateau

In Plateau State, NDLEA operatives arrested 51-year-old Chinedu Uzor at Katako Market in Jos.

The suspect was allegedly found in possession of 157,100 capsules of tramadol.

Cannabis Farms Destroyed in Edo

The NDLEA continued its operations against illegal cannabis cultivation in Edo State, where officers destroyed 4,832.56kg of skunk cannabis recovered from farms in Usen Forest, Igwe-Oke Forest and Ogboha Forest.

The operations covered Ovia South West, Owan East and Owan West Local Government Areas.

A 39-year-old suspect, Sunday Segun, was also arrested on Friday, September 11.

186kg Cannabis Recovered in Ondo

In Ondo State, NDLEA officers acting on intelligence raided a residence along Oke-Iya, Ijoka Road, Akure, on September 9.

The operation resulted in the recovery of 186kg of skunk from the boot of a Toyota Avalon car with registration number ABJ 917 FV.

A 58-year-old suspect, Paul Ogbuwala, was arrested.

The agency alleged that he was preparing to transport the consignment to Jos for distribution.

Cannabis Seizures in Kaduna and Bayelsa

In Kaduna State, NDLEA operatives arrested a female suspect, Hannah Michael, in Gonin Gora after recovering 369.6kg of cannabis.

Bayelsa State also recorded a major seizure after officers recovered 110 bags of cannabis weighing 876kg at Ovom in Yenagoa.

Four suspects were arrested. They were identified as 70-year-old Godwoman Gboriye, Motombo Silver, 44, Pere Andrew, 39, and Keme Andrew, 43.

NDLEA Intensifies War Against Drug Abuse Campaign

Beyond arrests and seizures, the NDLEA said its commands continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns across the country.

The campaigns were conducted in schools, religious centres, workplaces and communities.

In Kano, the agency held an awareness lecture for students and staff of Mezube Islamiyya Academy in Tudun Wada.

The NDLEA also visited the management of the Cross River State College of Health Technology, Calabar, as part of its advocacy efforts.

In Jos, traditional rulers from Rikkos visited the NDLEA Academy to appreciate the agency for allowing members of the community to access its clinic.

The NDLEA Zone 4 Command also paid an advocacy visit to the Emir of Keffi, Alhaji Shehu Chindo Yamusa III, in Nasarawa State.

Marwa Commends NDLEA Officers

NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.), commended officers involved in the operations across Lagos, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Kaduna, Plateau, Bayelsa and Kano.

Marwa urged the officers to maintain pressure on drug trafficking networks and intensify efforts to block routes used to move illicit substances through airports, seaports, land borders and communities where cannabis is cultivated.

The agency said the operations are part of its broader efforts to disrupt the supply and distribution of illegal drugs across Nigeria.
