The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke following his victory in the August 15 governorship election, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement issued on Sunday, NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said Adeleke’s achievements and personal qualities contributed to his success in what he described as a keenly contested election. The Forum also congratulated the people of Osun State for their large turnout, saying the level of interest generated by the off-cycle election demonstrated the resilience of Nigeria’s democracy.

The NGF commended all the candidates and opposition parties for their contributions to the democratic process, while also praising security agencies for containing the violence recorded in the days leading to the election and creating a relatively secure environment for voting. The Forum further acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s role in balancing his position as leader of the ruling party with his responsibilities as President, expressing confidence that Adeleke would build on the achievements of his first term for the benefit of Osun residents.
