He claims that the command has stayed dedicated to its primary missions of revenue collection and anti-smuggling activities ever since he formally took over as the Customs Area Controller of Oyo/Osun Area Command on February 7, 2025.

In his own words: “The command has intercepted and seized a number of high-profile smuggling consignments within two weeks of my assumption of duty, including the seizure of foreign rice, used tires, Premium Motor Spirit, and second-hand clothing.”

The duty paid for these seizures is ₦165,387,000. The illicit entry of goods that threaten regional industries, especially those of rice farmers and manufacturers, has been stopped by the interception and confiscation of these forbidden and uncustomed items.

1,043 bags weighing 50 kg each of foreign parboiled rice were among the illicit commodities, with a DPV of 114,730,000. Additionally, there were 233 kegs (25 liters each) of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) with a DPV of ₦5,825,000, two bales of used clothing with a DPV of ₦1,440,000, and 452 pieces of used tires with a DPV of ₦43,392,000.

Adelaja went on: “The command was able to collect ₦2,048,487,969 as revenue covering the period of 1 February to 27 February 2025 under my leadership.” The diligence and effectiveness of our officers and personnel in guaranteeing adherence to current customs rules and policies is reflected in the money collected.

Through the use of cutting-edge technology, such as enhanced data analytics, the Oyo/Osun Area Command has considerably decreased tax evasion. This has allowed the Command to efficiently monitor trade flows and spot irregularities.
