Ondo Govt Hires 1,010 Secondary School Teachers

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has given approval for the recruitment of 1,010 teachers, who scaled through the screening exercise by the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).

The teachers are to be deployed in secondary schools across the state.

A statement by Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the list of successful candidates would be made public online and displayed on the premises of TESCOM headquarters and zonal offices across the state.

The statement said the list of successful primary school candidates was undergoing finishing touches.

It said the recruitment was part of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s promise to solve the perennial problem of shortage of teachers in public schools.

The statement said: “Governor Aiyedatiwa had expressed concern over teaching staff shortages in public schools, particularly in rural communities. This necessitated his directive that the recruitment must be based on the peculiar needs of the understaffed schools across the state.

“The recruitment of teachers in primary and secondary schools is one of the efforts of the Aiyedatiwa administration in revamping the education sector.

“Last Friday, the governor approved the payment of N633million for the registration of students for the West African Examination Council’s (WAEC’s) Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination.”
