Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) has officially opened its Election Day Data Room, today, 14 August 2026, ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election as part of its efforts to strengthen election observation, transparency and evidence-based reporting during the electoral process.

The announcement, made under the “#Osun Decides 2026” initiative, marks the commencement of KDI’s real-time election observation, data verification and analysis operations. The Data Room will receive, verify and analyse structured reports from KDI’s observers deployed across the state, providing timely information on the conduct of the election from the opening of polling units through accreditation and voting, counting, collation and the immediate post-election period.

KDI will also receive reports from citizens and other stakeholders through its toll-free election incident reporting hotline, 080 0000 10000. The mechanism is intended to support the prompt documentation, verification and escalation of election-related incidents that may arise during the exercise.
The opening of the Data Room comes as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, political parties, civil society organisations and other stakeholders intensify preparations for the August 15 governorship election.

Through the Data Room, KDI will monitor and analyse developments across polling units, including voter participation, compliance with electoral procedures, the functionality of election technology, the presence and conduct of party agents and security personnel, incidents of violence or intimidation, and other issues that may affect the integrity of the electoral process.

The initiative is also expected to contribute to efforts to counter misinformation by providing timely, evidence-based and verified information from the field, while supporting stakeholders and the public with a clearer picture of developments during the election.
